I was browsing a new pet food store today, killing some time, when I saw a display for a collar that stops dogs from barking. Just to give the clerk a smile, I asked her if it would be wrong to buy one of those to put on my neighbors dog.
I don’t actually have a neighbor who’s dog barks all night, but of course, she took me literally and told me how I should be nice to my neighbors.
I was thinking about it on my way home and the following is how I wish I had followed up on her statement:
“Well, their dog’s barking doesn’t really bother me. It’s my wife’s yapping in my ear about their dog’s barking that keeps me awake. I wonder if I could convince my wife the collar is a new fad in necklaces?”
(Disclaimer: Neither does my wife yap in my ear. In fact even when she is complaining I have to ask her to repeat it cause she talks too low for me to hear. Of course she is too nice to repeat a complaint, so she just suggests I clean out my ears. Always thinking of ways to help me.)
