Thumdar Brand and Ownership Statement

🔒 Thumdar Brand & Ownership Statement

Last updated: 6/4/25

We understand that many long-time members of the There.com community hold a deep attachment to the Thumdar name and its legacy. Out of respect for that history—and to ensure transparency—we want to provide clear information about the current ownership, trademark status, and direction of Thumdar.com moving forward.

Trademark & Legal Status

We are currently in the process of registering Thumdar® as a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Until registration is complete, we are protected under common law trademark rights, which apply to businesses using a brand name in commerce, even before formal registration.
We are also actively protecting our logo, design mark, and related brand assets. All versions of the Thumdar name and visual identity are covered under these protections.

🧾 Historical Permission & Use of Legacy Content

In 2024, the domain Thumdar.com was legally acquired via public auction. After the acquisition, we reached out to Jay Yarbrough, the original creator of the Thumdar platform, and received written permission to use legacy content and continue building Thumdar under the new ownership.

This included:

  • Acknowledged support for the project.
  • Provided assets for use on the website.
  • Public confirmation from Jay on his own website that he was no longer the owner of the current Thumdar platform.

⚠️ Change of Position

At a later point, Jay expressed that he no longer wished for his materials to be used on Thumdar. While we respect his right to change his mind, the legal permission previously granted, as well as our ownership of the domain and brand, remain fully valid under U.S. law.

We want to make it clear that we are not attempting to erase or diminish the contributions of the platform’s original creator. Thumdar is now owned by Domenick Basolo, and we are committed to its future as a modern platform built to serve the community.

🤝 Message to the Community

We understand that transitions like this can be emotional, especially for tight-knit communities with a shared history. Our goal is to preserve and evolve the Thumdar platform for future generations, ensuring it remains a place for creativity, collaboration, and connection.

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback about the future of Thumdar, we welcome you to reach out via our Contact Page.
