Hey everyone—wanted to share some concepts we’ve been tossing around for beefing up profile customization on Thumdar:

1. A Thumdar “Store”

• Browse and unlock digital goodies like profile‑picture overlays, banner templates, and special badges.

• Some items could be free for all, others earnable through activity, or available for credits (earned by posting, hosting events, etc.).

2. Earnable Rewards

• Hit milestones (complete your profile, rack up reactions, host a group meet‑up) to unlock exclusive overlays or seasonal badges.

• Encourages exploration and gives tangible recognition for your contributions.

3. Giveaways & Limited Drops

• Regular community events (photo contests, quiz nights) where winners receive limited‑edition overlays or banner graphics.

• Keeps things fresh and gives everyone a chance at something unique.

4. Custom Badge System

• Badges like “Community Champion,” “Event Host,” or “Verified Contributor” that sit proudly on your profile.

• Each badge could unlock a small visual perk—think glow effects or badge‑themed overlays.

All of those elements—environment, economy, ease of connection—are key ingredients, but what really brings a virtual world to life is its people. It’s the friends you meet, the impromptu gatherings, and the families you build with fellow explorers.

There.com still exists today because its community refused to let it die—they rallied to keep it alive and even helped relaunch the world. The same goes for Thumdar: without the members who show up, share ideas, and look out for one another, it would just be lines of code. In my experience, it’s that sense of belonging and care—knowing someone will be there to welcome you home—that makes a digital space feel truly alive.

When There.com went offline the first time, my wife and I gave Second Life a shot—but it never quite clicked for us. As geomite mentioned, There.com’s physics and avatar animations remain unmatched; the way characters move and interact in that world still feels more lifelike and responsive than anything I’ve seen elsewhere.

That said, building on There.com does take a bit more patience—you need to craft assets externally, submit them for review, and wait for approval, whereas Second Life’s in‑world building tools can feel more immediate. I’ve heard similar feedback from other creators, and I’d love to see There.com streamline its development pipeline. Even so, the richness of There.com’s community and the depth of its world still make it, for me, the superior platform.

From the moment I first logged into There.com, it just felt like home. My wife, the_wifey, and I met there back in 2009—and if it weren’t for that world, we wouldn’t have our two beautiful kids today. So much of my family has played over the years, too: my Uncle Joe (Basolo78) was the one who introduced me, and though he’s passed on, I carry his memory with me every time I return.

Beyond that, the friendships I’ve made and the passion of the community are second to none. I’ve sampled other platforms, but none of them capture the same magic or sense of belonging. There.com will always be my home away from home—and that’s what keeps me coming back.

So my wife and I planned this night out—no kids, nothing to rush back for. We were hyped. Thought maybe we’d go out somewhere fancy, hit up a movie, make a whole night of it.

…We ended up at Pizza Ranch because we were both craving their chicken. Not even mad about it. Sat there talking, laughing, and just enjoying the peace and quiet.

Then we got home around 10pm and were like, “Yeah… that’s enough excitement for one night.”

Put on comfy clothes and passed out like two people who had just run a marathon—except all we really did was eat buffet-style fried chicken and exist.

That was the moment.

I’m too old for the party scene. Too old to pretend, I want to stay out past midnight. But I’m just the right age to love the hell out of a chill date with the person I love and call it a win.

No regrets. That chicken always slaps!

So here’s the weird one: I make wine. And mead. Like, a lot of it. I’ve got batches bubbling, clearing, and aging at any given time. I experiment with fruit blends, yeast strains, the works. I’ve even spent hours researching how to stabilize, clarify, and perfect the process…

But here’s the kicker: I don’t drink. At all.

People always ask, “Why go through all that effort if you’re not even gonna sip it?” And honestly, I don’t have a great answer. There’s just something about the process that’s freeing. It’s like creating something beautiful, powerful, a little dangerous, and then stepping back and saying, “I made that.” Like art in a bottle.

Maybe my guilty pleasure is being obsessed with something I don’t even consume.

Who knows. It’s my own little fermented rebellion!

The next bonus entry announcement on the Monthly Giveaway Hub isn’t until December 7th, so the two events you submitted for December 6th won’t be able to be included this round.

Hey Andrew—welcome back to There.com, and welcome to Thumdar! It’s awesome having a Virtual MTV (vMTV) alum here, even though it’s a bummer that vMTV closed down.

For anyone unfamiliar: Virtual MTV was MTV’s mid-2000s virtual-world push—social spaces themed around music, events, and shows where you could make an avatar, explore city hubs, and catch live/virtual performances. One example was Virtual Lower East Side (vLES) in 2007, which focused on concerts and music discovery before the project was sunsetted not long after launch.

We’re glad you found your way here, Andrew—shout if you need anything! 🎉

If you see @grimfeather hosting Movie Night in the Events list, jump in, it’s a good time. Karaoke also pops up frequently, and there are some seriously talented singers. I’m usually heads-down on Thumdar, but recently @the_wifey put me onto one performer who was legit impressive, highly recommend checking out a karaoke event when you spot one.

The files are already marked as “Elevator Friendly.” This means it’s designed specifically not to have a bottom collision.

You don’t need additional or separate elevator files. From my understanding, the provided model is ready-to-use. I haven’t used them personally, and there is a provided GMax file.

This is all that was included with the download.

Let me know if you have any other questions or insights. Perhaps we can recreate these files even if not needed and offer them with the downloads?
